Outlander Meets Bones

I really enjoyed A Murder in Time. It’s a mix of time travel, mystery, and historical fiction, and it somehow manages to pull all of that off in a way that feels fresh and interesting. The story follows Kendra Donovan, a modern-day FBI agent who ends up back in 1815 England. She’s smart, sharp, and totally out of place—which makes watching her navigate the past really entertaining. The murder mystery at the heart of the book is genuinely suspenseful, and I liked how Kendra uses her modern knowledge of forensics to help solve it—even though she’s stuck in a time when people barely understand basic hygiene. It made for some really cool contrasts and challenges. The historical setting was well done, too—I could picture the clothes, the castles, the social rules (and how frustrating they must have been). Kendra can be a little intense sometimes, and I didn’t always connect with her emotionally, but I appreciated her determination and how she held her ground in a world that didn’t take women seriously. Some of the side characters weren’t super developed in this first book, but a few of them definitely grew on me as the series went on. I've read the entire series now, and I think this book sets things up really well. Each installment builds on the last, and it’s been fun watching the characters grow and the relationships evolve. If you like historical mysteries or anything involving time travel, I’d definitely recommend starting here. It’s a fun and clever read that only gets better.
