Engaging whodunit with a stylish hero

This classic mystery, entertaining from start-to-finish, revolves around Hermes Pimm, a stylish British widower, recently retired from M.I.6., who finds himself unwittingly entangled in the murder of a former Sandhurst classmate. While the unraveling of the mystery and the steady introduction of numerous quirky characters are important elements in the development of the story, it was Pimm himself who kept my attention and became quite real in my imagination. He's a likable, classy and articulate gentleman. With a clever mind, a quick wit, and a healthy appreciation for the romantic interlude, he leads us through the maze of the mystery to a satisfying and surprising resolution. I hope we'll have the pleasure of joining Hermes on many more jaunts.
