A Moment Passed By is a selection of poetry accumulated over the past several years by author Albert A. Powers. It is a looking back on life and exploring memories from the vantage point of older age. It asks if we could go back and live our lives over again, would we change things and perhaps get it right this time. The author wants to know how to live a whole life, one filled with purpose and self-examination, one that explores the relationship between man and man, between man and his universe. The book begins with thoughts about war and the author's combat missions during the Vietnam conflict. The main thesis, the exploration of the self, follows. The third chapter addresses a love of nature. Mr. Powers spent many enjoyable years in the pursuit of outdoor photography, in the creative exploration of wildflowers and waterfalls. Chapter four speaks to the connection among all things, both living and inert, organic and inorganic. Each individual and each object, from the single atom to the eagle flying above, has its own unique essence. Chapter five expresses a love of family, especially of grandchildren. The book ends with a few selections of humorous poems.
