Dry media will give the best results on the double-sided pages. The designs are reminiscent of a bramble, tangle, thicket, labyrinth...a MAZE...becoming more complex with each page. Some designs contain shading that can be helpful for some colorists; and for more of a challenge, there are dark areas for using gel pens if desired.
