The Story of a Still Timely Case About Race Discrimination
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 21 years ago
In the interest of full disclosure, my late father wrote this book more than 30 years ago, but upon re-reading it recently, I found that it is still relevant to the present state of race relations in our country. The book focuses on the legendary attorney Clarence Darrow's representation of an African American doctor in the 1920's, who, upon moving with his family into a white suburb of Detroit, was besieged by an angry mob, and, in an effort to hold back the mob, apparently shot into the mob. This concise book gives a brief history of the facts behind the case and then summarizes the legal proceedings. An interesting read, and still timely today. In fact, it would make a great movie! Denzel Washington, are you out there?
