Great mystery novel!

This is the first time reading Miss Parker's work. I loved this novel! I thought the mystery part(ghost story) was really well written and I like the relationship between the two main characters. Well done. Can't wait to read her next book.

Marcia Watkins owns an interior decorating company, has a two-story townhome and a nice car to drive. Yet, in her late 30's, she is missing one thing, a man to share in her success. Since her parents died when her baby sister Anna was only 15 years old, she has concentrated her life on raising her and becoming successful. When she gets an unexpected phone call from Anna, she is in for a surprise. Anna is getting married in two weeks and she needs Marcia to fly to New Orleans to plan her wedding and to meet her fiancé. Needing a break, Marcia takes the time to go to New Orleans. What she finds is a hundred year old mystery with a real live ghost and maybe the man of her dreams. She also must ensure her sister isn't making a mistake by marrying the much older and wealthier Justin St. Jean. Walter Dufrane is the landlord of the apartment where Marcia is residing until her sister's wedding. He is tall, handsome and mysterious. He also seems to be still in mourning over his beloved wife, who died a few years before. However, Marcia captivates him and this causes him to feel guilty, but he cannot deny the overwhelming feelings he has for her. When they work together to solve the mystery of the ghost in the apartment, their feelings start to become mutual. Is Walter truly over his dead wife? Will they leave a lover's legacy in their wake? A LOVER'S LEGACY has several genres coursing through it. It is a romance with an element of the paranormal and a nice mystery that must be solved. The setting of New Orleans blends well for romance as well as the paranormal elements because of its rich history. I am familiar with New Orleans and it was nice remembering the landmarks and places used as a background for the story. The pace of the story was well done because readers will be enthralled with the ghost portion especially with the history that is revealed regarding this being who seeks the main character's help. However, the romance segment of this story was not as thrilling or as exhilarating as the paranormal and suspenseful parts. I would have liked to have seen a bit more sexual tension between the couple.
