What would happen if Heloise and Abelard, the tragic 12th century French lovers, found their way back to each other today? Who might they be? What might they remember? What might be unresolved within... This description may be from another edition of this product.
A Love Apart is one of those unique stories that grabs you from the start and, as much as you don't want to get to the end, you can't stop reading. Rachelle Rogers merges a modern love story of two tortured hearts with the historical account of those same two tortured hearts from lifetimes past. She offers this fascinating story with an eloquent and honest style. I am impressed with this emerging writer and I look forward to her next book.
Not Your Everyday Love Story

Rachelle Rogers is a talented poet, fiction writer, and artist. She weaves all her talents to create a memorable love story with many twists. From the very first page you feel you are in capable hands with this author. Her research is impressive regarding the classic love affair of Heloise and Abelard, and the characterization of Lily and Julian is thorough. You care about these characters and what happens to them. The plot is a (carefully constructed) whirlwind that leaves you breathless. This is fiction that does not disappoint. I can't wait for Ms. Rogers' next novel.
Spiritually Intriguing

Invoking the compelling story of ill-fated medieval lovers Eloise and Abelard, Rachelle Roger's novel A Love Apart weaves layers of psychic complexity inherent in the cobblestone relationship of a woman and man in our own time. Their attraction, powerful and penetrating as a thunderbolt from Mount Olympus, abides even in their mysterious dreams. But alas, even such god-sent, soul-connecting love proves inadequate to the task, for he is gay-though saying the issue so simply reduces the rich characters and themes of Rogers' tapestry. It's an intriguing story beautifully told. Her well-woven prose and mysterious spirit engage me throughout. The book helps me understand a mysteriously powerful, spiritually charged relationship I myself have experienced. The power was off in my house. I read the novel by flashlight from start to finish. And in the light of morning, I wrote Ms. Rogers a long thank-you note.
The story and the writing

The story of Heloise and Abelard is compelling, and Rogers has a way of drawing readers into the emotion of the past and its impact on the present. The books also explores love in all its dimensions through wonderul characters. Best of all, the writing is graceful and lovely. V. McCullough
