A long way from Wales , is a collection of autobiographical anecdotes, as recounted with great perceptiveness and a lot of humour, by a very courageous man over the last six months of his life. It is a story of romance and adventure, and of the overcoming of obstacles. In this book, Tudor Daniels takes us on his life's journey from his roots in a small Welsh coal mining village; through his experiences as an administrative orderly in the RAF, at home and abroad in the 1950s; meeting Yvonne, the love of his life; migrating with his young family to New Zealand; and, finally, settling in Australia. Of particular interest are Tudor's many anecdotes from his 21/2 year tour of duty in the RAF posting station of El Adem, North Africa, which included experiences with sandstorms, snakes and ghostly lights in the night. There are also encounters as diverse as: packs of hungry golden jackals, vengeful natives and serving breakfast to Queen Elizabeth II. Wherever Tudor's memories relate to historical incidents, these were checked for accuracy. Some additional information, obtained from the internet, was woven into his accounts or added as footnotes, when necessary. Most of the photographs are from Tudor's own collection, though a few relevant images, gleaned from the internet, have been added and referenced where possible.
