Jack Falon is a figurehead, no longer the president of the corporation he built. He has lost his lucrative restaurant business and is recovering from the wounds he received at the hands of his Mafia... This description may be from another edition of this product.
Among the impressive things about A Long Drop to Eternity are the author's ability to create tension, move the story forward with action, and draw on his life experiences in the Chicago area, thus following the "write what you know" formula. While the level of violence is disturbing, it perhaps is not uncommon to the setting.

Book is an excellent read and very enjoyable. Hopefully Arneberg will have more where that came from.
More top-notch action

A fitting follow-up to Arneberg's first book, Into an Unseen Distance. A continuation of the Jack Falon saga, it picks up where Jack left off: wounded, in the hospital, and in the arms of his dead brother's vixen. Arneberg uses spare prose to describe delicious action. (There's a scene in an abandoned factory that will curl your hair.) The sexual byplay between Jack and his black temptress is riveting. Great read. Check it out.
