This book began as a simple idea: to keep a small collection of Iranian proverbs in one place, with clear explanations and scenes that make their meaning easy to remember. Along the way, it became much more than a list-it became a way to preserve a living part of culture, one short sentence at a time.

I want to thank everyone who has kept these sayings alive through everyday conversation-especially our parents, grandparents and all the storytellers who pass wisdom forward without ever calling it "wisdom." These proverbs aren't owned by any single person; they belong to the collective memory of a people.

Over the last few decades, as the authors have lived outside Iran, these proverbs have traveled with us into new languages and friendships. Sharing them-sometimes in Farsi, sometimes translated-often brought the same response: smiles, curiosity, and instant connection. That's when we realized we should share them more widely.

Iranian culture is among the world's oldest, shaped by one of history's great civilizations. If this book helps preserve a small piece of that heritage and brings people a little closer through everyday wisdom, it has done what we hoped.
