The story is told through alternative viewpoints of Raymond, his prot g s, and the French villain. The novel digs deeply into questions of love, self-doubt and hatred, all foisted upon Raymond during a career from which, he discovers, it is impossible to retire.

An octogenarian at the end, Raymond learns that the Frenchman is planning to kill again. To thwart the Frenchman's plot, the old spy and his prot g s must engage in one last mission.

And interesting Spy Story

MY THOUGHTS ON A LION IN THE GRASS #iReadBookTours A Lion in the Grass (The Raymond Hatcher Stories/Book One) by Mark Zvonkovic is an interesting story that follows a spy, Raymond Hatcher over the course of six decades. The story is told from mostly Raymond’s point of view, but some of the other characters chimes in to tell their viewpoints as well. I like Raymond but sometimes I had a little problem connecting with him, but maybe because he was a spy and didn’t want anyone connecting with him. The details of each scene throughout makes the story flow so much better, and the character’s are so realistic, especially when the story is dealing with real life issues. With a lot of the book I felt like I was right there feeling the story with the characters. The writing is phenomenal and I enjoyed the authors writing style, I just wasnt expecting the language that could have been calmed down a little or left out altogether. But that’s my point of view. This is a really good story and I look forward to reading the other two books in this series. A Lion in the Grass is a very well written spy story, and if spy stories is your thing, you will enjoy this one. A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. A Lion in the Grass

A Lion in the Grass begins Mark Zvonkovic’s The Raymond Hatcher Stories series. It is, also, the first time I have had the pleasure of reading. It is a different writing style than what I am used to. It took me about the first three chapters to really get immersed in to the story. It was interesting to see where Raymond would end up. There was some action, danger, mystery and suspense. It was quite thrilling at times really. I never knew what was going to happen next, making me often on the edge of my seat. There was no way for me to be able to predict the following scenes. The author obviously did his historical research to make this novel happen and to span so many years. His talent really shines through within the pages. Overall, I thought it was a great read. I am giving A Lion in the Grass four and a half stars. Fans of historical fiction rich in historical details will want to pick this one up. I believe it is most definitely worth a read and not to be missed. I am looking forward to the reading the next book from The Raymond Hatcher Stories series, The Narrows, to see where Mark Zvonkovic takes his characters to next. I received a paperback copy of A Lion in the Grass from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.
