A love story for the gods!

Absolutely fantastic! This was a wonderful audiobook and tale, full of adventure, quests, searching for a fairy tale type of love, and discovering who you really are, not just what people expect you to be. Stella is stubborn, always wanting her way and also looking for the type of love like her parents. Add in a surprise twist of heart bonding the guy you semi hate (having been in a prank war with him for years) and a quickly made plan to participate in a contest to undo said heart bond, and you have quite the exciting tale! I felt for her, even though as the reader you can definitely tell that she is not seeing the full picture in her love for Arden, but I really do admire her grit. And once you get to see the full side of Teddy, with his own issues in love and expectations as the heir to the throne, also in the contest to find his own happy ever after, you can see they are perfect for each other. So much excitement, humor, great side characters, danger (from rebels and other questers in the Gauntlet Games), saving each other's lives, and the odd tryst or two after patching up injuries (which do sizzle with chemistry and may cause burns) and you have a fun tale that now has me excited to see what the original series is like. This is a standalone set in a bigger world so you won't feel too lost but it definitely will make you want to see what happened in the before of this lovely love story. The narrators, James Fouhey and Emily Woo Zeller did a fantastic job in bringing Stella and Teddy to life and their exciting story to finding themselves and the love that will bring all they have ever wished for! Such a great audiobook and I am so glad I got the chance to listen to it!
