What is the source of human inspiration ? Many cultures have pondered this. There is no doubt that across the centuries writers, poets, painters, natural scientists, and of course holy men and prophets, have experienced what we might call the intervention of 'muses'. The author, with some experience of fiction writing, science and ancient history, has concluded that sometimes external agencies do intervene...at special places, along the Dragon Paths, and at certain times. These short 'fiction' stories are about what happens in his neck of the woods, on the Wirral peninsula in Cheshire: a place with a very long history, back to the Mesolithic, in fact, but rich in myths of other periods to. Though much is lost much abides. In these stories we will see that a surprisingly consistent case can be made for the transmission of some particular kinds of knowledge, which some might call Geomancy, through the centuries. Wirral's position on the west coast of Britain has meant that many people passed through its local ports, Meols, Liverpool, Chester & Parkgate in recent millennia, on the way to Ireland and places much further afield. The Old Powers who revel in stimulating human imagination and sometimes in taunting the 'sensitive' have had plenty of travelers and locals to choose from: Taliesin, The Gawain Poet, 'William Shakespeare', Dean Swift, John Wesley, Fredric Handel, JMW Turner, Herman Melville, George Stubbs of Liverpool, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Charles Dickens, Arthur Conan Doyle, Olaf Stapledon, young Adolf Hitler and many more, including possibly, lesser talents like the author himself. We cannot name other, living authors for obvious reasons but they know who they are ! So, enjoy these stories and take them as amusing fiction if you wish. On the other hand if you see strange patterns here, like the author, read the last story, 'Echoes from the Mist', and follow up the references and leads which the author provides. All the historical, biographical and mathematical material is true. As to interpretation, that is up to you. Tread carefully, 'come not between the Dragon and his wrath', and good luck.
