I thought this was going to be old Welk Christmas stuff, but it's not. Perhaps my fault so not downgraded for that. This DVD's content doesn't have much going for it on its own merits. There was really nothing special about this; quite the opposite. The lack of strong responses from the audience seems to confirm my opinion. There are many standing ovations in other later Welk DVDs; none in this one. And rightly so.
Many Welk stars that are on later DVDs are missing from this one. No Bob Ralston, Dick Dale, Arthur Duncan, Gail Farrell and others--the most conspicuous absence being no Ralna English. Plus there's very little "show" to it. Mostly people just singing; you could listen to a CD for that. And there's WAY too much unison. I mean seriously, a group of professional singers and they're incessantly singing the same note? Give me a break; even teenagers in a basic school group can manage at least two-part harmony. And the "bonus" songs? Different people singing the same songs you already heard earlier in the regular show. The overall content of this DVD is a dud.
