The death of a young patriarch suddenly left the family defenseless in a society that had no safety net to catch the vulnerable. Exposure to the vagaries of a chaotic society threatened the very soul of a vulnerable child who managed to draw on sheer determination and big doses of luck to pull slightly through in his country of birth. Not satisfied, he emigrated to another country in search of greener pasture. Life in his new country turned out to not be the bed of thorns-free roses he had imagined. He faced a combination of culture shock and new vicissitudes of life that were unique to his new environment. His saving grace? His country of birth had allowed him to dream big dreams while his new country fulfilled those dreams.
