The most wonderful book on the history of the Jewish People

This book starts from the destruction of the second temple to the inception of the State of Israel. It is eight hundred pages of amazing history. I cannot tell you how revealing it was, to read and soak up what was on those pages. I have recommended this book to several people and gave copies of it away to good friends. Those who have read it have been dazzled by the contents. I remember reading this book and putting it down and telling my friends about what I had just read. I typed several pages of the book and sent it by email to other friends. This book has brought my emotion to tears, it was thrilling to discover my past and understand the important of the Jewish merchant in world history. One part of the book stands out to me and I have repeated it several times. Being in the State of Michigan, I am aware that the Dutch had a thriving business here hundreds of years ago, even before the English. Amsterdam was the hotbed of world commerce. England was jealous, but they had finally realized that the expulsion of the Jewish population had harmed its commerce. So England finally opened up its doors to the Jewish people again and the rest is history. I recommend this book to any Jewish person who wants to understand their history and to understand how Jewish population where able to find themselves in every part of the world.

An excellent source of Jewish history

This book was used as the textbook assigned to me when I took a high school Jewish history course in a private school. It is an outstanding resource. It may be a bit dry, but it is comprehensive and accurate. More educators should use it as a resource.
