A History Of The Disciples Of Christ

By Benjamin Bushrod Tyler

Book Overview

A History Of The Disciples Of Christ is a comprehensive account of the origins and development of the Disciples of Christ religious movement, written by B. B. Tyler. The book traces the movement's roots back to the early 19th century, when it emerged as a response to the religious and social upheavals of the time. Tyler explores the key figures and events that shaped the movement, including the founding of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the subsequent split with the Churches of Christ. The book also examines the Disciples' distinctive beliefs and practices, such as their emphasis on baptism by immersion and their rejection of creeds and denominationalism. Through a careful examination of primary sources and historical records, Tyler provides a detailed and engaging narrative of this important American religious tradition. The Society Of Friends, The United Brethren In Christ, And The Evangelical Association And Bibliography Of American Church History. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
