This book is a history of the Ikwerre, and it is far from being the only one that could be told. This work is an attempt to confront the problem of the search for the truth amid several stories and their distortions. This work follows the endeavors of several writers of Ikwerre history striving to uncover our roots relying on annual reports, conventional archival intelligence reports, other British records and oral traditions. The early stage of this quest was dominated by writers, obsessed with their work, driven by hopes of fame and glory with deep research into the precolonial, colonial, and post-colonial Iwhnuruohna. Oral tradition created discoveries of iconic significance and fierce controversies. These controversies, today, have died down, opening new needs for further and better research. However, to name some of my oral sources would be invidious.
