I Bought It Because It Was Recommended By The Author On The Hugh Hewitt Show For A Beginner To Read For Understanding China. It Was Absolutely So Pedantic And Scholarly That After The First 50 Pages I Quit. It Is Certainly Not For A Beginner But For A Very Serious And Scholarly Person. I Was Very Frustrated And Usually Plow Ahead On Hard Tasks But This Held No Promise Of My Learning Even A Rudimentary Overview Of That County. My Pearl Buck Reading As A Teenager Taught Me More! And I Do Have A Couple Of Degrees Beyond High School.
