Complete in breadth and chronological span, A History of Brazil is a panoramic interpretation of the Brazilian past from discovery to the present that treats the economic, social, cultural, and political evolution of Latin America's largest nation
This book is a greatly written historical time line of Brazil. At first, the immensity of the book may strike you as a long read. However, if your interest lies in finding connection between history and contemporary culture of a nation, this book will keep you captivated. I was born in Brazil, so I have direct connection with the culture. When I first begun reading this book I was a little discouraged because of it being written by an American native (A History of Brazil). It didn't take me long however, to become enthralled with Burns' knowledge of Brazilian history and collaborative research. If you are interested in world history, or Brazilian history, this book is a must have on the bookshelf.
