Isaiah 35 is the thematic backdrop for a real life story about an orphanage in Masindi, Uganda. But this is not just a book about orphans, or a tale about two continents. It is a collection of stories of all sorts, some heartwarming and some heartbreaking. Partake in the adventure of every human emotion - you will certainly cry, but you will laugh out loud as well.It all starts with my own story- a real life dramatic comedy about a Jesus-loving late-bloomer. Follower of the Lord, fervent about His Word, I'm constantly in awe of the faith adventure and forever an advocate of orphans. I'm obsessed with The Story. The ones He is writing. He led my heart to Himself, next to the mystical enterprise that is Marriage, and to then Masindi, a small village in Western Uganda where my journey intersects with other marvelous players and a many-splendored love affair bridging even Heaven and earth.My husband, Adam, and I were the third couple on the first trip to Masindi, Uganda. There to assist the two adoptive families, all of us thought that the mission was over when the court victory was secure. However, on our last day in Africa, we visited the orphanage where their infant girls were first left.Thus begins a series of intertwining stories with a growing number of people grafted in. Susan, an orphan herself, is mother to over 200 other orphans. She survived one of Kony's nightmare attacks on a largely peaceful agrarian people. Isaac is the only son of his mother; he begins life under the heavy expectations of his earthly father, but he finds and fulfills the plans of his Heavenly Father as founder of Family Spirit Orphanage.And then, of course, there are the children- over 200 orphans who are the true spirit of this family. And of this story. Beyond the stories of Family Spirit Children's Centre, you will meet many others: a Muslim Renaissance man with a personality as big as the continent of Africa; an American MacGyver born for adventure; and other players from eight to eighty.
