Depression does not discriminate. It is an equal opportunity disorder that can present itself to anyone regardless of race, gender, age, etc. It affects over 300million people in this world. Very treatable, but over a third of depressed individuals seek any sort of help. Over the past decade, the rate has grown within our youth. This is usually looked at as a taboo subject due to the seemingly direct correlation to suicide, which has also become more prominent in our younger demographic. It is important that everyone understands that they are not alone in their internal battle. Being confident enough to talk about the problem and seek help are the first steps to recovery.
