Losing her shop she gambles her last penny on a school opportunity in Tucson but on arrival is turned away by politics, forced to walk the streets, alone and frightened. By chance she meets a store owner who gives her a job and chancing a meeting with Larry and his group of gypsies also seeking their fame and fortune but in professional cycling. Drawn together they find they can't live without each other. Stakes get higher with each cycling event until the final international race that decides if they stay together or must part ways. Larry and Giselle are an endearing odd couple among strangers in a competitive world.
