Laos is a Gypsy with talent for riding fast and breeding horses but no time for learning. He tells himself he's attending Eaker University for the chance to run a two hundred horse stable his way, and get paid for it. But the real reason he's there is Kaeryn, his sister's flame-haired, Merchant born, former best friend who he cannot forget. But she cannot stand the sight of him.
For Kaeryn, the presence of Laos is an unpleasant distraction when she's looking for a new beginning. He's proven himself to be just like the stereotype, dark hair, dark eyes and nothing but trouble. She has seen for herself that Gypsies string young women along with empty promises then ride off into the sunset never to be seen again.
She is sure he's just at Eaker to extend his amusement at her foolishness, believing that they once were friends.
Kaeryn knows it was a youthful and foolish decision to be attracted to her best friend's brother, especially since she lost them both. In this case there is no second chances.
Because Gypsies can't love forever, can they?
Can Laos and Kaeryn overcome hurt, fear, and everything else they push between them, to get a second chance at exploring what is between them?
