A Guide to Selling Your Own Retail Beef

Do dreams of Saturday mornings at the local farmers market fill your head with the joy of selling your farm or ranch's beef to members of your community? I too had this dream, and my husband and I devoted six years to making this dream a reality for our ranch. In 2018, we officially launched V8 Ranch Beef, which is a branded beef program from our ranch It was quite a learning experience. During the process, I realized I had so much information to share. I created this mini-guide with our tips for starting and marketing your own beef program. I'll be the first to admit, I'm not a professor of meat science, nor do I have any expert professional level of beef sales experience. This guide is solely written from the perspective of a local ranch wife, hoping to sell beef to my local community. This guide is developed from my first hand experiences of trial and error.
