A Good Neighbour: He only wanted to keep the girls safe

By Netta Newbound

Fifteen-year-old Lucy knows exactly what will happen if anyone finds out her mother has disappeared.

She and her little sister, Daisy, will be taken into care.

So Lucy keeps quiet.

At first, she tells herself Becky will come back. She always does. But then she finds her mother's phone and her bank card. Everything Becky would normally take with her. And as the days pass, one terrifying possibility becomes harder to ignore.

Something has happened to her.

Thankfully, the girls are not completely alone. George, their elderly neighbour, quietly steps in, bringing the kind of care they have never really known. Then Ben arrives, charming, generous, and strangely determined to protect them too.

For the first time in years, Lucy and Daisy feel safe.

But all is not as it appears... George is hiding a terrible secret.

He knows exactly what happened to Becky.
