A Glass Half Full

By: Liley, Mike

What does a post-war East End lad, a Lloyd's of London reinsurance broker, and a racehorse owner have in common? They all know that life is best lived with a glass half full.

Step into the vibrant, humorous, and deeply moving memoir of Mike Lilley. From the rationed streets of 1950s Hackney to the high-stakes world of international reinsurance, Mike's journey is a testament to the power of optimism, enduring love, and a healthy dose of cheeky rebellion.

Discover the hilarious misadventures of a young newspaper seller who learned the art of the daily double, the nerve-wracking thrill of navigating Milan's pickpockets, and the sheer joy of volunteering as a driver during the London 2012 Olympics.

Beyond the boardroom and the racecourse, this book is a heartfelt tribute to Diane, the love of his life, and the beautiful family they built together. You will also find inspiration in Mike's unyielding spirit as he faces his battles with skin cancer with the same witty resilience he applies to everything else.

Readers will enjoy a captivating blend of historical nostalgia, sporting triumphs, and behind-the-scenes secrets of the horse racing syndicate world. It is a story that proves age is just a number and that the best adventures often begin when you stop taking life too seriously.

If you appreciate witty storytelling, heartfelt reflections, and tales of a life well-lived, this memoir will leave you smiling.
