A decent start to the series

This one was a kind of slow start for me. I had a little trouble getting into it, and it seemed to drag in places. I think my issue was the daily reading thing we were doing in the group. While the concept of Advent books is fun and can work, sometimes I can't do it everyday because of work so I fall behind and then I have to catch up which takes away from the main book I'm reading. It's also a constant pull out of the story. I don't think I'll be doing any more Advent reads for this reason. I'm just going to read them like I would any other book, especially if the book isn't actually an Advent book, which are set up a bit differently that make the daily readings a bit less chore-like. But over all, I'm glad I read it. The characters are likeable and the plot itself is a good one. Once the story picked up speed, it was hard to put down. There's enough twists and turns to keep a person wanting to continue reading. There isn't much in the way character development but this is just the first of like five books so there's plenty of time for the characters to grow more; and I do intend to finish the other books in this series throughout the year.
