A very interesting and entertaining read. Could be adapted into a very good movie involving intrigue and romance. This novel is based on a situation in which the body found in the Berlin bunker was not Hitler, but a substitue placed there in an attempt to dupe the Allies at the end of the European war in 1945. The book deals with a plot to smuggle Hitler out of Germany. McGuire, who was a soldier with the occupational forces in 1945, weaves a very interesting tale of what might have happened in this conspiracy. Interspersed in the plot is a passonate love story between a dashing U.S. Army officer and the attractive wife of one of the conspirators. This book is very well written, and I intend to keep an eye open for future works by this author.
A Gentle Wind Came With Us

As has this author, I also have always been intrigued by the thought that Hitler did not die in Berlin on April 30, 1945. George McGuire has written a very entertaining book showing what might have happened to Hitler. The book is very plausable if you have a good imagination. The characters are vivid and realistic. From the romance (which abounds) and the politics, the book kept me interested from beginning to end. I read this book in 2 easy days, because I didn't want to put it down. I recommend to anyone who is a WW2 buff to read this book, it sure makes you wonder! I understand this is the authors first book and he has done an excellent job.
