A Footprint of Memories

In my book I will share the sorrows endured from being separated from my mother and never meeting my father as well as the joys of living with grandparents and aunts and uncles in a rural farm life. With no indoor plumbing an outhouse in winter was a challenge especially when the Sears Catalog was all we had for toilet paper...carrying water from the pump outside for all of our needs was not an easy but necessary task. A galvanized tub on the kitchen floor is where I took my bath... The butchers came and butchered our pigs, grandma churned her own butter and baked fresh bread everyday. We'll venture walking on the stone walls and hiding in the corn fields....we'll ride the old buggy down the hills and pretend we're Tarzan swinging on the stalky vines in the woods. Mud pies for the neighbor and bouquets of dandelions for grandma are some of the treasures we'll share. We lived during World War II. Sirens and blackouts were frightening and conserving and rationing were a way of life.
