A compendium of handcrafted treasures and home-cooked delicacies for Christmas family get-togethers. The book contains ideas for decorating the home and table with festive flair, and for making... This description may be from another edition of this product.
This 1997 book is about half-and-half on crafts and recipes. It's in hardcover, 223 pages, and the book dimensions are 8 1/2" x 11" x 5/8". The pages are of matte appearance and of heavy stock. The crafts run from small to large, wreaths, dolls, Christmas cards, and the like, made from both natural (e.g., pine cones) and man-made components. Many of the craft items would make nice gifts and children could definitely help in making them. There's nothing all that difficult in here. The recipes are quite good ones (I cook every day) and not limited to cookies. There are numerous main dishes (e.g., baked turkey) and some of them are great holiday recipe ideas: "Three-Cheese Stuffed Manicotti," (Page 201.) Combining both pastimes, there's a worthwhile section on "The Holiday Table" which might serve to impress your in-laws if you take advantage of some of the ideas here. In any case, the book is heavily illustrated (every page) with color photographs and detailed instructions throughout. If you're into either crafts or scratch cooking, this book would definitely be worthwhile and I can assuredly recommend it.
