Winter games and sweet love

In between the more intricate and darker fantasy books, I just need a light, cozy, and entertaining book every once in a while. And this series is just right! I loved that Jez and Taenya get their happy ever after in this book finally. You get a winter festival, good times with friends, sweet moments, and of course there is always a lovely new recipe made at the bakery (and the recipe is helpfully shown at the end so I too can pretend to be a master baker!) I must say of all the characters, I really love Jez best. She loves her alone time, hates crowds, but still will stand up for her friends, like she does with Taenya, which of course leads to great things, even if they involve sledding, cold, and snow! You get growth of characters, bolstering of self esteem, a few challenges but also sweet times, quiet and peaceful. But the other characters are wonderful too. Not perfect, but with strengths that counter other's weaknesses so that everyone can find their happy place. The Adenashire books are just perfectly cozy sweet and I can't wait to see where else they will go, now that the original characters brought together by the Baker's Battle have found their happiness in both love and a home and friends that will always have their backs.
