The A+ certification from CompTIA certifies the competency of service technicians in the computer industry. Revised exams are due out Q4 of this year. A+ candidates must pass two exams--Core Hardware and Operating System Technologies. These two A+ exams cover a lot of ground, and many candidates who have read a Study Guide or taken a course are looking for well-organized review guides to help them brush up on key topics. The A+ Fast Pass is that book Note: CD-ROM/DVD and other supplementary materials are not included as part of eBook file.
It is a rare thing when one book not only provides all of the information you need to pass a certification exam, but does so in a highly condensed fashion with an economical price. This book was my sole study resource for the A+ exam: after a couple weeks of study and a few practice tests, I passed the exam with a comfortable margin and was able to make educated guesses on the few questions for which I didn't immediately know the answers. When I began studying I already had a practical familiarity of the subjects covered: I have been building and repairing my own systems for a number of years and am very comfortable in the Win9x/2K/XP operating environment. Having that background, this book was able to convey very quickly the more theoretical and structured knowledge that corresponds to building, repairing, and troubleshooting personal computers. While people generally seem to recommend consulting multiple sources during study, if you have some prior background and experience with the subjects covered in the A+ exam, take good notes, and run through a few practice exams to prepare you for the format and expectations of the test, this book should provide you with all of the information you need. It is a delightfully valuable resource, and I cannot recommend it more highly.
Best A+ Book Ever

I teach an A+ certificaion course at a school for disabled students. I tried using a few different books because the students were having a hard time with the material and none of them were passing the tests. Even Mike Meyer's books were not helping the students to pass and he is considered kind of an authority on A+ certification preparation. When we began using the A+ Fast Pass, the students started passing the tests and said they liked it much more than any other books they read. While reading through it, I knew I was reading a truly superior A+ preparaion book. The problem with all the other A+ books out there is they do not follow the actual exam objectives available on CompTIA's website. The A+ Fast Pass is organized according to the exam objectives so you know it has everything in it you need to pass the tests.
I am now A+ Certified!

I received this book last week, looked over it over a weekend, and signed up for the 2 new A+ exams which were available the next week. I took the A+ Core yesterday and the A+ OS today. I passed both, thanks in part to this book. This book gets right down to the meat of it and doesn't skip a beat. As soon as you open up the book, you won't be able to put it down. It reads very nicely. But dont get me wrong, this is only intended as a review of key concepts, so you may have to go elsewhere to get certain facts. I would highly recommend this book for those of you that don't want to spend a week reading a tome (I won't name names here... but a certain corporate giant publishes books over 1000 pages to help pass their exams... which is great, but not if you want to get your certification fast). Best of all, it has a CD with flash cards and 2 practice exams. What more can you ask for? Here is my advice. If you are thinking about taking the exam, start with this book. It is rougly 280 pages, and it will give you an idea of what you need to study up on. Good luck!

This is a great book. It gets right to the heart of the material and tells you exactly what you need to know to pass the A+ tests. I definitely recommend this book if you're planning on taking these tests or if you're just interested in setting up and configuring computers.
Add to the Complete Study Guide and this a great set.

It never fails, just when you think and exam is safe, someone goes and changes the questions. CompTIA is releasing new A+ Exams and they have added new material to both exams that make up the A+ certification.Sybex is trying to keep up with the changes and they are releasing the FAST PASS books in replacement of the EXAM Notes series. This A+ guide is a scaled down, right to the point, cut out all the fat quick reference guide. This book should not be the sole book you use to study for the certification. This book have a ton of useful information, goping to the very heart of the exam objectives. The author David Groth has done a very decent job in highliting the most important information and putting in a organized guide.Covering both the Core and OS exam you have over 250 pages of material, again this book makes a great companion for the Sybex A+ Full Study Guide. Included in this book is a cd with a couple of practice exams, 1 for each exam as well as some flash cards. I know that this a fine points study tool, but it think there could be a little more information on each topic as well as more practice exams. Overall a few minor updates are needed, buit this isone good tool to have.
