All people, dead or alive, have roots, and those roots tell a story about the ones living today. Things that influence and impact your life now have some relationship to your ancestral heritage. It is disheartening when names and stories are lost. People deserve and desire to be remembered. History depends on us to listen carefully and accurately retell or write it down. There are about 3,000 personal names in the Christian Bible and perhaps 800 stories about individuals. The Bible is a record of how good and evil men came to bear upon those that followed. My interest in the Bible and in my family has greatly enriched my life, and I hope it does the same for you. This is a story of the legacy of five generations of the Harness family who have lived in the Ozark Hills of Arkansas. My goal in this book is to connect both the bloodline and stories of five generations of the Harness family, pointing to the heritage and legacy of their faith in God and how that impacted their lives. This book is written for my children and for others who will benefit from knowing these ancestors better, with the hope that their examples will serve to give all a foundation of faith and character in their generation.
