Frankie is a little girl who follows the beat of her own drum. To her, it doesn't matter what girls are "supposed" to wear, what girls are "supposed" to look like and how girls are "supposed" to act. Instead, she does what she likes to do and stays true to herself. Unfortunately, at school, her classmates didn't understand her as well as she'd hoped. Instead, they make fun of her and make her feel that just because she is different, she is not normal. Frankie has never experienced this before because at home her parents make her feel that she is just "A Different Kind of Princess". This book follows the story of Frankie and how everything changed for her at school one day when her teacher, Ms. Longo, decided to do a class activity. This activity had each student in her class share their story on what makes each one of them different in their own way. After each student shared their story, they started to understand what Ms. Longo wanted to teach them: that everyone is special in their own way. Finally, Frankie was seen as "A Different Kind of Princess" to everyone.
