During those early days of coaching, I searched everywhere for a book that carefully explained the techniques behind skating. It was hard for me to remember the basics. I wanted to be more specific about where a skater should press on the blade, how to teach jump rotation, increase speed, etc.
This is the book I wanted but couldn't find when I started my coaching career.
This book is a resource for the skater who wants to transition from being an athlete to being a coach or the skater who wants to learn more about the sport of figure skating.
Read this book if you want to learn:
new jump drills
basic skating skills technique and tools to improve
details about how jumps work
details about how spins work
new jump drills
facts about skating elements and how they are broken down
general skating information about competitions, boots, blades, practice, off-ice training, mindset and more
