A Devotional Reading on the Book of Esther

This book is a devotional reading on the Book of Esther. By that, I mean that it is a book to draw out some inspirational thoughts for our hearts that would motivate us towards a closer walk with and a deeper passion for our Lord Jesus Christ. The story of Esther was against the backdrop of the Jewish captivity in a foreign land. A Persian king had taken a beautiful peasant Jewish girl as his harem. Her name is Esther or Hadassah in her Jewish contact. This is a story of how God has raised a peasant girl from obscurity to prominence for a noble task to avert a possible mass destruction of the Jewish exile by the Persian king. Although God was not mentioned anywhere in the Book of Esther, God was nevertheless the One who orchestrated the deliverance of His people from the massacre. And God did it in a very ordinary way through a Jewish damsel, who proved to be courageous and strong in her faith in the God of Israel. It is a story of how courage and faith stood against the odds of evil scheme and king. So often we are quick to attribute the setbacks in our lives to bad luck and the success to hard work. But the story of Esther tells us that it is the Almighty God who can turn our setback into success. There is no such thing as bad luck to the Believers and we should not depend on our achievement for success. Rather, in setbacks or success, in bad times or good times, we must stand courageously against all the odds and have faith to believe that in God's hand-we have come to such a time as this (Ezra 4:14)-for a divine purpose
