Why a Wedding Is NOT a Marriage
Christian marriages are failing at nearly the same rate as the world. Not because we don't love God, but because we're doing marriage the world's way.
Every day, an average of 6,000 weddings take place. And every day, nearly half that same number file for divorce. This includes the Church.
A wedding is a day. A marriage is a covenant. And too many women know how to plan one while remaining completely unprepared for the other.
We have learned how to have weddings. We have not learned how to build marriages.
We are making choices based on feelings, outside pressure, and desire, then we want to bring God in on a decision we never included Him in. We ignore what all the red flags before the wedding, convinced they will change after. We stand before God making vows, presenting ourselves as holy, knowing we have already consummated the marriage before the covenant ever began.
And then we wonder why marriage is so hard or why it doesn't work.
Before there was a ring, a dress, or a reception hall, there was a God ordered covenant, a divine idea established in the mind of God long before weddings became a billion-dollar industry. Genesis 2 did not describe a celebration. It described an order. And when we skip the order, we inherit the consequences. Good, bad or painful.
Proverbs 24:3 declares: "Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established." We are not lacking love. We are lacking understanding. And what we don't understand, we cannot build no matter how beautiful the ceremony was, is or will be.
This book confronts the truth many avoid:
The issue is not marriage itself. It is how we are entering it.
Why a Wedding Is NOT a Marriage walks through what God intended from the beginning, covenant versus ceremony, spiritual joining versus casual connection, the weight of vows spoken before a God who keeps records, and what it truly means to build a marriage that stands. It addresses the show versus the substance, what intimacy really is beyond the physical, and why so many marriages that start in the church end the same way as those outside it.
This is for the believer who is ready to stop calling everything God, stop ignoring what has already been clearly revealed, and finally understand the difference between a wedding and a covenant. Because until that difference is understood, we will keep celebrating one while struggling in the other.
It is time to get this right. And this is where you start.
