This is an original Amish story as it delves into the inner struggles of the characters and what is expected of them to remain part of the Amish community. Hen is a strong willed Amish maedel who is only interested in her goats and making items to sell but with her father being the bishop she is expected to become an obedient daughter who does household chores, cooks, and bakes. This is a story of enemies to friends, to sweet romance and discovering what is most important following your dreams or faith and family.i really enjoyed the approach the author took to make this story shine through difficulties and differences of of opinions and how love, faith, and family binds us together. This is the first book in The Heart of the Amish series and I look forward to more as it was a very enjoyable read.

A DAUGHTER'S CHOICE (HEART OF THE AMISH BOOK 1)
by KELLY IRVIN
Henrietta "Hen" Miller loves raising her goats and making products to sell from them, like cheese, yogurt, caramel candies, and goat milk fudge. She is quite dedicated to her business, but her father believes that she needs to stay inside the house and work on domestic tasks.
Hen has other ideas to expand her goat business, but her father says NO.
It is hard to imagine not being able to grow your business the way that you want to. Since Hen is Amish, she has to follow her father's wishes for her life.
Nicholas and his sister Lenora came to stay with their grandfather Moses, because he needs looking after. They aren't planning on staying forever, but will stay as long as they are needed. Nicholas is a helper to the local veterinarian for the area. He can help on some of the more minor calls, until the Vet is available.
Hen and Nicholas find that they have similar interests in life. Hen has mostly given up on a suitor. God has a different idea.
This is a Christian Amish fiction novel, it is nice to read and no worries about there being too much religion pushed at you or objectional wording. Highly recommend.
There is a nice glossary of Pennsylvania Deutsch at the beginning of this book, which is very helpful if you're not familiar with the sayings.
