A Cycle of Ravens

The government has detained a selected group of people over the ongoing social unrest across the state. The military does not have rubber bullets to shoot at legs in the all-out nationwide agitations to have one of the major roads in the country named after a teenage suicide bomber whose head is carried round the streets like a trophy. The politicians talk at some length over a few beers and women in their general area on how to maintain peace between politics and religion. The government does not want self-killings turned into state business.

A Cycle of Ravens is a dramatic portrayal of what it means to be living now. Set in some unnamed, but miserable place of confinement, the play takes as its theme the grotesque grievances in the contemporary society over religious narratives, cultural pretensions and political excuses with a peculiar depth of satire. In the hiddenness of that confinement, in its odd sense of scepticism, there is something which points towards the unfailing image of nihilism.
