A product of old money and a brilliant heart surgeon, Henry McLaughlan is condescending and pretentious, with a strong need for approval and a reputation for womanizing. Dark secrets from his youth... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I agree with everything the first review spoke of. I enjoyed this book immensly and read it in three days. The book does hold you and keeps you there. If you are Catholic or not, you will enjoy this book. The familiar places of the Pacific Northwest made the book even more enjoyable. Looking forward to any new books that Helen Hein will write.
A Great Story Which Challenges Too.
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 24 years ago
Set primarily in the Pacific Northwest, this novel captures your heart, mind and imagination. It is a compelling story of a loving relationship developing between two people coming from vastly different cultural, moral, and faith perspectives. It is hard not to fall in love with the strong-willed, yet faithful and compassionate heroine. Similiarly, the growth and maturation of her love interest in ways far beyond his career was authentic and fascinating.Along with being a great story which moves at just the right pace, this book provokes thought and encourages some personal attention to the deeper issues of faith, morality, boundaries, personal redemption, and freedom. As you can tell, in my view, this book is a big winner! It is one that is already in my personal library and will be one I'll definitely read again.I highly recommend it!!
