A Commentary on Revelation: The Lord is Almighty

This commentary is well researched and covers Revelation from beginning to end verse by verse. The reader will understand the verse(s) in context. The exposition discusses Revelation's theological message, literary analysis, and how first century Christians would have understood the passage. Apocalyptic images become clear when the reader knows that John quotes/references the Old Testament. Sometimes Greek grammar and word studies are discussed but do not require the reader to know Greek to understand the exposition. The commentary provides an exposition that allows the text to speak on its own terms and gives the reader a well-informed understanding of Revelation.

Four different views of interpretation follow the exposition where applicable (preterist, historicist, futurist, idealist). The preterist seeks events in the first century that apply to Revelation's message. The historicist views part of Revelation as an outline of church history, later chapters concern future events. Futurist interpretations from well-known authors are provided. The idealist observes eternal truths (cycles/patterns) in Revelation repeated through the centuries, ultimately fulfilled at history's conclusion. The reader can compare the exposition's meaning with the four interpretations, decide which is best, and know the meaning of the text. It was written for Christians who are unsure what to believe and for Bible study leaders who want to be well prepared. This is the only commentary the author uses when asked to teach or preach from Revelation. It is an ideal companion for personal study and as a resource for teaching Bible study and sermon preparation.
