Plus, they paid you the princely sum of $21 a month I joined and was sworn in on December 15, 1939, my 17th birthday, at Ft. Hayes, Columbus, Ohio. That was the beginning of a six year odyssey that changed and guided my life forever. paved the way for the invasion and brought General Giraud in as an ally.
