In Indian families, while choosing a girl for marriage, this qualification used to be very important that whether the girl is proficient in sewing, knitting & embroidery apart from the other household chores. Then the daughters of the house also learned to knit by watching their mothers & aunts weave. I myself learned to knit when I was studying in class four, watching my mother knit.
While completing my education, I had accumulated a stock of knitting patterns which I used to note down from my mother, aunts, friends, women in the neighborhood and women's magazines. Instead of keeping many of these samples with me, I think it is better to publish them for reference of all those women who use this art of knitting sweaters as an expression of their love for their loved ones.
