A Collection of Cultural Lectures

This book, A Collection of Cultural Lectures (I-II), mainly covers the traditional Chinese culture, discussing how it was shaped and how it has influenced Chinese history politically and economically over 2000 years. From a philosophical perspective, the author offers quite a lot of insightful comparisons with counterparts in the West, which makes the book thought-provoking.

Wang Dongyue is a freelance scholar, independently free from any political organizations or academic institutes. He was a medical student and acquired a master's degree in medical science. But he left the medical field shortly after he graduated as a postgraduate in medicine; for a period, he worked as a guest professor of philosophy at the Northwest University in Shaanxi, and also a guest professor of the Eastern Culture at the Communication University of Xi-An, Shaanxi, China.

His works include this one, A Collection of Cultural Lectures (I-II), and three other books: A Unified Theory of Evolution, The Joy of Fish, and The Decline of Humankind. This book is a collection of a lecture series given by the author at Hundun University in 2018. Though it has been slightly embellished to suit the needs of reading, it inevitably still retains some lecture impressions superficially, so the reader is expected to take it as background reference, but not as a basis for study or evaluation.
