A Circle of Pain and Happiness

By Dzhavhelo Mukwevho

"This book takes us on an emotional rollercoaster through the life of Khumbudzo, a young, focused, and self-motivated schoolgirl athlete. Right from the start, we are introduced to Khumbudzo's world-a world fueled by dreams and dedication. Her ambition to become a professional athlete is palpable. She meticulously sets her goals, plans her training, and balances her dreams with her academic life."

"But as we delve deeper, particularly from Chapter 3, the narrative shifts from just a dream to a journey within a journey. Khumbudzo's path to becoming a professional athlete is paved with opportunities and experiences, yet also fraught with the immense challenge of balancing her aspirations with her education. Just as she starts to rise, fate intervenes."

"From the high of an emotional crowd-cheering victory, khumbudzo's world is turned upside down by a disability. This moment of crisis is profound. The very community that once celebrated her now labels her as 'disabled; exposing her to demotivating harrassment and mental struggles. The portrayal of her journey through this adversity is heart-wrenching yet incredibly powerful."

"A Circle of Pain and Happiness' is not just Khumbudzo's story, it's a reflection of harsh realities that many face regarding physical and mental disabilities, self-awareness, peer pressure, and societal stigmas. It helps readers gain an intimate understanding of the importance of support structures, the journey towards self-actualization, and the relentless power of mind over matter."
