A Christmas Dream

"How should I teach my child to live? What paths are the right direction? What roads lead to ultimate harm, and how can he discern the difference-especially in a generation that has lost its map? Hope and Dreams!!

Well, once I started the book, I absolutely HAD to finish it, because I could NOT put it down so I read it in one night!!  I LOVE it!!!  It was so wonderful and so full of hope and new beginnings, not to mention evidence of Janet's delicious sense of humor right from the start. It has been so long since I have sat down to read something that I wanted to read and with so much gusto. I literally "devoured the book".   Janet has truly given me a special gift as I am such a Christmas person, even though I believe that the spirit of giving should be all year round. Her book has reaffirmed my belief that one should never give up hopes or dreams that one cherishes. And, considering all that has happened in 2005, never giving up is most definitely a major theme! Read it, you will love it!

So touching!

Susan Quincey had lost her husband, Mark, in Desert Storm. But Susan still had a part of Mark, in Jeremy. Jeremy is almost four-years-old and is the spitting image of the dad he never knew. The two live in Duluth, Minnesota, far away from any relatives. So they are alone and the weather is icy cold as Christmas draws near. The weather is just one more reason Susan cares nothing for the holiday season. When her car battery dies after work, her boss, Kevin Dockter, helps charge it up and then follows her home. Soon Kevin finds himself falling in love with Jeremy, as well as, Susan. ***** This one is the PERFECT reading material for those chilly afternoons in early December. Make some hot cocoa, wrap up in a blanket in front of a fire, and read some hours away. This Christmas story will warm your heart and make you believe in miracles. You may want to keep that tissue box handy. There are some very touching moments and the ending is ... well ... perfect. ***** Reviewed by Detra Fitch of Huntress Reviews.

A Christmas must

This is your must have three hankie feel good Christmas story, where the words "... and a little child shall lead them..." are never more true.

A Christmas Dream

I read a copy of Janet Smith's "A Christmas Dream" over the holidays. I found the romantic story of Susan Quincy, her son, Jeremy, and her boss, Kevin Dockter to be absolutely delightful. Not only was there romance (between Susan and Kevin, of course), but the comedy found throughout the book had me laughing, crying and wishing for more. I truly enjoyed Jeremy's passion for "Burger Donalds," Buford, Santa's other reindeer, played a major part in the book. I know. You've never heard of Buford, but he was there, along with Rudolph, Dancer, Prancer and those other well-known characters from the North Pole.Susan Quincy had lost her husband in Desert Storm. Her son, Jeremy, never met his father. She went to work for Kevin Dockter, but didn't become romantically involved with him for some time. Kevin won Jeremy over, and eventually his mother. A dept. store Santa plays a major part in the book, as his son was killed in Desert Storm at the same place as Susan's husband. The book ends with everyone happy - even Santa - who received one of life's most precious gifts.Janet writes great dialogue. It's one of the things I like best about her writing. This book doesn't disappoint me in that respect. The story moves right along - and never gets boring.I'm planning to read this book again next Christmas. It reminds me of how much I have to be thankful for.
