Alice Nestleton -- actress, cat sitter, and amateur sleuth -- is ringing in the holidays with a new client: a lovely tortoiseshell cat named Roberta. But sometimes this fickle feline turns into the... This description may be from another edition of this product.
This was an enjoyable and quick read. The reason for the murder is a bit far-fetched, but the story ends quickly once you find out who the murderer is. The main character, Alice, is an out-of-work actress who seems to be more of a sleuth than an actress. She has an unsatisfactory love life, but she is really more interested in solving the murder that she discovers. Alice has a dry sense of humor, however, which she demonstrates throughout the book, including in her conversations with the cats. An unrealistic plot line, but still a fun read.

Although the title doesn't really mean anything to do with the murder (except that the story takes place a few weeks before Christmas), it's a book that can be read easily in one night. Alice Nesleton is a part time cat sitter and out of work actress who seems to walk into murder quite a bit. This time, while babysitting a cat for another actor, she has to take the cat to a shrink because of it's naughty behaviour. She is admitted to the woman's home / office and waits while she thinks the woman is talking to another client. After waiting 45 minutes, she knocks on the woman's half opened door and discovers the voice she hears is a tape recording and the woman has a bullet behind the ear while wearing an apron. As she talks to her friends, Nora and Aaron Stoner ( a cop and possible boyfriend) about the case, Aaron tells Alice about a similar murder he investigated 10 years ago but that the woman was never identified. With nothing better to do, Alice decides to! find the lady's killer.Eventually, everything comes together after 80 pages of fluff about her love life, etc.Plot is a little forced but still an enjoyable read.

The book overall was wonderful.Cute story. Good plot.It would have been a perfect 10 in my opinion, had the author not used profanity (F___ word). I found this overly offensive, in an otherwise darling book.
