Not just a chicks book

This book took me by surprise. It was a real page turner! I couldn't put it down. Karmen Casey is rare writer, she does not play with your head. She did not sugar coat the forbidden. What I loved most about this story was after reading it, I came away loving the flawed characters even after I'd drawn earlier conclusions to dislike them in the beginning. I also feel like any man who has a child that they do know know should read it. I hope we hear more from Karmen in the future.

Eye Opener

The life experiences of Camille were touching and very revealing. I'm sure many women could relate to her story and feel a connection to many of the characters in this book. This author should continue to write and in some way, let us know more about Camille's life.Let's look forward to another 'fast read' from Karmen Casey!

There were a lot of surprises

Although usually not a fan of this genre, I try to read just about everything published about the Metro Detroit area, or set in the Metro Detroit area. I was pleasantly surprised by these characters, because I went into the book thinking I already knew all about them. This book is about real life and real people. Many of the streets and locations mentioned I am very familiar with. I didn't realize until the last chapter of the book that there was still more to learn about the main characters and how they came to be the people they were. There are many lessons to be learned about judging or misjuding others. You can't help and love others until you help and love yourself is the message I believe the author was trying to convey. I didn't give the book five stars because I felt the ending was incomplete. There was no happy ending, but you are left wanting to know more about how and where the characters ended up. Maybe there will be a sequel, and even a prequel I think would be very interesting.
