This volume is entitled 'A Bridge So Near', because the bridge we seek as human beings - between our impasses and succour lies in our very humanity. It is this humanity that is the subject matter of this verse. I have tried to show some of the meanings of this: Every life is a panorama - that much can be guaranteed about every human existence; it is the poet's special task to use this panorama as his stock-in-trade and then delineate his or her life's experiences in intelligible manner. Thus from the life I have breathed, imbibed and reflected on emerges once again another volume of poetry. Some of this verse was written in 2001, the other more recently.
